Italy reinforces drink-driving countermeasures

Beginning of January, seven German tourists were killed and 11 others were injured by a single drink-driver in the Italian ski resort of Lutago, outside a night club.

The tragedy, triggered a series of talks between the Ministry of Interior and the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) to increase road traffic enforcement by engaging city police in tasks such as check on drink-drivers. The identification of high risk sites was also asked by the government.
